What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first visit at My Smile Care is a comprehensive new patient experience, not a rushed cleaning. Depending on your needs, it typically includes:
1. Welcome & Paperwork (10 minutes)
Our front desk team will greet you, verify your paperwork, and answer any initial questions. You can speed this up by completing your forms online in advance (see below).
2. Medical & Dental History Review
We sit down with you and listen. What brought you here? What has your past dental care been like? What are your goals, concerns, or fears? This conversation shapes everything we do next.
3. Comprehensive Exam
Dr. Pamidimukkala or Dr. Shinde will perform a thorough exam that includes:
- Tooth-by-tooth evaluation
- Periodontal (gum) assessment
- TMJ and bite evaluation
- Oral cancer screening
- Airway and sleep-breathing screening
- Existing restoration check
- Smile analysis if you have cosmetic goals
4. Digital X-Rays & Imaging
Low-dose digital x-rays as clinically indicated. For complex cases, we may recommend a 3D CBCT scan the same day.
5. Intraoral Photography
We show you what we see. Patients consistently tell us this is one of the most valuable parts of their visit — finally understanding what’s happening in their mouth.
6. Hygiene Appointment
If appropriate, we can complete your first EMS Airflow Guided Biofilm Therapy cleaning at the same visit. For patients who need periodontal therapy first, we’ll schedule that separately.
7. Treatment Plan Conversation
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of:
- What we found
- What (if anything) needs attention
- Your options — with honest tradeoffs
- Costs and insurance coverage
- Priority and timing
We never pressure you into treatment. We will happily explain, answer every question, and give you the space to decide.
Before Your First Visit — How to Prepare
Please bring:
– A valid photo ID
– Your dental insurance card (if applicable)
– A list of your current medications
– A list of your current medical conditions
– Names and contacts for previous dentists (if you have recent x-rays we can request)
– Any concerns or questions you’d like to discuss
Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first visit if you haven’t completed forms online.
New Patient Forms
To save time at your first visit, please complete our online new patient forms in advance. We’ll email you a secure link after you schedule. You can also download printable forms and bring them to the office.
Insurance & Payment
We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans and will file claims on your behalf as a courtesy. For patients without insurance, we offer:
- In-office membership plan with transparent pricing
- CareCredit financing with flexible terms
- Multiple payment methods (cash, check, all major credit cards)

How long is my first visit?
Plan on 60–90 minutes for a comprehensive new patient experience.
Can I have a cleaning the same day?
Usually yes, if your gums are healthy. Patients with active gum disease may need periodontal therapy before a standard cleaning.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major PPO plans. Please call us with your insurance information and we’ll verify benefits.
I have severe dental anxiety. Can you help?
Absolutely. Please tell us when you book. We use no-drill Aqua Care, Fotona laser, gentle Airflow cleanings, and offer sedation options for patients who need them. Many of our most anxious new patients become long-term patients.
Can I bring my kids to the same appointment?
Often yes — we love family visits. Please let us know when scheduling so we can block appropriate time.
How far in advance should I book?
New patient appointments are typically available within 1–2 weeks. Emergencies are seen much sooner.
